In the world of Human Resources, the idea of giving back has a fancy title: “Corporate Social Responsibility”, but what does that actually mean? And how do you apply it to a Media agency of all places?
In a broad sense, corporate social responsibility is a business’s core strategy to give back to the community they operate in, as well as addressing social and environmental concerns. It’s a commitment to hold high ethical standards for themselves while recognizing the benefits to both the community and the company when they engage in philanthropic and charitable goals.
At Media Works, the idea of giving back is at the core of our company values. We encourage employees to give back both as a group, and individually. The individual volunteerism allows for every employee to volunteer for what they are passionate about, and the group outings provide a fun and meaningful way to connect with coworkers while helping others.

This week, September 12th -16th Media Works is participating in “Do Good” week. We are encouraging our employees to do a little good every day and make the world a better place. Small acts, like buying coffee, holding the door, or sending an encouraging email go such a long way.
Media Works recognizes that doing good doesn’t just benefit others, it benefits everyone. Corporate social responsibility has been proven time and time again to benefit the triple bottom line (planet, people, profit) and help as a great employee engagement and retention tool. Corporate values have taken center stage for many young workers as they look to align their personal principles with their work goals.
We hope to continually expand our reach of “doing good” for years to come, with employee involvement and excitement. As our opportunities change and our staff grows, we will incorporate new ideas and volunteer objectives to reflect the values of our employee population. That’s what is so cool about giving back, you do it not only because it means something to someone else, but because it also means something to you.
